How effective is the combination of your main product
and ancillary texts?

The 3 texts complement each other in advertising of my film and appeals to my target audience firstly by when looking at the posters we have used they all create a sense of mystery and the same is fallowed thought into the trailer, there is know main plot give away only a basic outline of the main hero and villain there names are not given which also adds to the mystery. This appeals to the target audience because the way it the poster and the trailer work is that it also sets the plot up nicely for an unsuspected twist.
secondly the way the combination of poster and trailer create an overall sense of the genera is also shown from all three of the advertising; the poster shows conflicted by the use of a gun in the hand of one of the main characters and on the other side a menacing icy stare showing an evil darker element to the film, the trailer on the other hand shows more locations and sets the agenda for the film and so in doing this again reinforces the action genera, for our magazine front cover we have chosen Empire magazine the leading film magazine in the UK which does feathers on almost all big budget films and because of the nature of big budget films which are nearly always of some sort of action film helps again the enforce the genera and also an indication that it is going to be big budget. All of theses things make our film that more that more appealing to our target audience.
finally the trailer does something that the other two peaces cannot, it allows us two showcase the actors, the locations and the plot. The music we use also attracts the target audience as it make people take notice even if it is played as an advert or in a pop up where the audience is not really paying that much attenuation but is then drawn in by the music used,this is something unique to a trailer. The Poster on the other hand relies on making a fast impact and delivery of information to attract the target audience and from this we rely on them then going on to websites like IMDb or youtube to see the trailer, this technique is something we would stereotypicaly expect a younger generation including our target audience to do due to the fact they rely on the internet and use it a lot more then the older generation. When looking at our poster it is important that we convince the reader that our film is worth going to see and so include material relevant to do this. Each peace of advertising used uses different ways to draw our target audience towards our film and helpfully with the different approaches it would succeed in attracting the audience.
