trailer analysis - Deadfall

After a heist getaway goes badly wrong, criminal siblings Addison (Eric Bana) and Liza (Olivia Wilde) find themselves separated. Stranded, Liza finds sanctuary with Jay (Charlie Hunnam), a family man heading home for Thanksgiving, but as they await Addison's return, her priorities change and the true bonds of family are tested.

The trailer starts off with a short establishing shot, to allow the viewer to properly engage the location only lasting a couple of seconds, once this is established the shot then quickly cuts to a similar location but with a road from here the shot is a seemingly continuous footage of a car crash. this movement to short cuts and then long sequence shots is used throughout the trailer up until the final 30 seconds where a montage of action scenes are used something that you often seen at the end of action films and something i feel would be good for us to use in our own film.

The phrase "it's a good sign when you feel a little bad" is repeated at the start diageticicaly in context with car crash the footage, it is a powerful phrase and stays in your mind which is why when it is repeated as the closing statement you feel that it sets the mood for the film and leaves the audience with a final thing to think about and with this you think about the film as well, something that we could yous in our film. The non-diagetic music starts of very light and orchestral and builds throughout  the trailer with the use of drums slowly over power the orchestra and replicates the heart beat which reaches its height over the final montage and then cuts out drawing the audiences attention to the name of the film and the cast.
