trailer analysis- The Dark Knight Rises
The Dark Knight Rises is the last in the recent Batman trilogy, it has build up a massive fan base from viral marketing companies and the success off the last two film, it has been widely awaited.
The trailer starts off with the initial diagetic sound of a boy singing the american national anthem, after this scene is finished the sound turn in to non-diagetic and keeps on playing under the initial statement " you are as precious to me as you were to your own mother and father and i swore to them that i would protect you, and i havent" this is said by a constant and well recognizes character throughout the movies, this also suggests that some harm has come to him or will come to Batman. but when you look at the next couple of lines of dialogue "hes a hero" "a war hero this is peace time" and "a storms coming Mr Wane" are very juxtaposed and could be put there to confuses the audience, this technique fallows the trailer to the end and still in the back ground you can here the boy singing. When the singing cuts out chanting begins, this is something that is not normally seen in trailers like this but when the meaning of the chanting is relies you can see it holds meaning to the tile of the film.
The pace of this film is slow and loops around back to the opening scene at some sort of stadium, unlike other trailers no plot line is given away and so this suggests that they are relining on the success of the last two films to curry over the audience it could also be that the audience needs to watch the film to find out the how it ends.
I think that for our type of film this trailer would be to hard to try and recreate and without a franchise to back it, it would be even harder to deliver the desired effect.
